Black Bags The phrase ‘black bags’ is used to refer to garbage bags, trash bags or bin bags which are disposable bags used for storing and discarding rubbish. While the term ‘black bags’ is commonly used in America, the British version of the same word is known as ‘bin liners’. Black bags or bin liners are made out of plastic and are used for lining the insides of the waste containers to prevent them from coming in contact with the waste material. Bin liners are commonly known as black bags because they are usually black in color and are available in three grades. The first grade is the lowest and is mainly used for discarding paper and other light materials, the second grade is medium and is therefore used for kitchen and household purposes and the third grade is the highest grade which is utilized for outdoor and warehouse purposes. Black bags or bin liners are universally used for garbage disposal because they have a number of advantages. The foremost advantage of black bags is that they are lightweight in nature and are particularly useful for wet and messy trash like food waste and odorous waste. The second advantage is that black bags offer a sanitary way of handling garbage in the sense that the container need not come in contact with the garbage at all while being taken out and discarded due to which the black bags have acquired the name of bin liners as well.
